Dr. Schickler has been in practice for over 40 years. He attended Marietta College, in Marietta Ohio where he earned his B.S. in Biology. He continued at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine formerly the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine and earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 1973. Dr. Schickler completed a preceptorship with Dr. Irving Smiler in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1975.

In 1975, Dr. Schickler began his practice in Bridgeport, Connecticut and in 1987 Dr.Schickler & Dr. Davis opened the doors at Family Podiatry Center at 2409 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT. Dr. Schickler is a member of the Connecticut Podiatric Medicine Association (CPMA) and served as the web page chairman from 1998-2000 and as Treasurer of the Connecticut Podiatry Political Action Committee from 1984-1998. Dr. Schickler is also a member of the Fairfield County Podiatric Medical Association (FCPMA) and the American Podiatric Medicine Association (APMA).

In his free time Dr. Schickler is also a member of the Bridgeport Host Lions Club and has served as President (1984-1985), Vice-President (1982-1984) Secretary (1993-2000) and as a member of the board of directors. Dr. Schickler received the highest honor for a Lion in 2000 when he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship for his humanitarian service. As Cabinet Committee Chairman of District 23A, Dr. Schickler partnered with Walter Palkowski to raise funds in support of Lions Clubs International Foundation. He has most recently partnered with Theodore Bresky for Camp Helmocks for the physically handicapped. In addition, Dr.Schickler was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and was a scoutmaster for many years and served as a unit commissioner (1992-1995) for the Fairfield County (Connecticut Yankee) Council.

Dr. Schickler and his wife Patty are the proud parents of three children and three grandchildren.
